Red Nose Day Actually by Amy Andrews

I am beside myself with joy to learn that the cast and writer from Love Actually are finally bringing us a sequel after 14 long years!

It’s only ten minutes long and its being done as the chief fundraiser for Red Nose Day (how awesome is that???) but I’ll take any extra bits from one of my all time favourite films!

I’m not sure which stories can be covered in only ten minutes but I really, really hope we see these few get a resolution.

This Laura Linney storyline broke my heart and I still get teary whenever I think about it. I hope she’s bonking that hot engineer like crazy!

I’d love for these two to have gotten together. Yes, I know she’s married to his best friend. But I’m sorry, his best friend is a jerk and Mark deserves her more.

I’d love to know what happened with his guy long term – I’d like to think he’s still living in polygamy heaven with his American chicks.

Of course, we’ll never get a resolution to this heartbreaking storyline either with the death of Alan Rickman last year. Emma Thompson was so gut wrenching in this scene but I have to admit to feeling for both of them.

What about you? Do you have a favourite couple from this iconic movie? And do you agree with me or not about the Peter/Juliet/Mark love triangle?

  1. One of my favorite movies! The Red Nose day will show in the US in the end of March. My favorite story line was Liam Neeson, his son and the little girl, and Hugh Grant and his secretary. always laugh when Colin goes to Milwaukee…I grew up about 15 minutes from that airport. The bar was accurate, but those girls had to live in a bad neighborhood! I also hope that Laura Linney finally gets her man..he was hunky (Like on of the romance guys). One day I’ll have to watch my DVD and see the outtakes and extra scenes..I think there were a couple other storylines they didn’t include.

  2. Sorry Amy I have to put my hand up here and say I have never seen the movie yes I know I have been told how good this movie is and I must see it soon ๐Ÿ™‚

Love the idea of making this new one for Red Nose Day it is a fabulous idea

    Have Fun

  3. Amy, I am intrigued as to why you thought the groom was a jerk? I didn’t get that sense at all just that two guys fell in love with one girl and she only loved one of them. My outcome for that triangle would be that Mark aamet a woman who loved him first and foremost and he fell for her too. Mark deserves that sort of love back, not the pity feelings Juliet gave him. Plus we save a marriage and a friendship which is worth so much more than Mark getting Juliet and the massive emotional fallout on all fronts. FWIW xx

    1. Hmm. Maybe jerk is too strong a word ๐Ÿ™‚ But I got a very strong impression that he wasn’t particualry into her. That he didn’t put her first. And honestly, I was totally left with the imprerssioni that the marriage wouldn’t last very long anyway.

But am happy to watch the film again (for the 48th time ๐Ÿ™‚ ) (maybe with Helen) and reasses my bias.

  4. I’d like to see what happened with Colin Firth’s character and the Portuguese housekeeper. I would also love to see a resolution of Hugh Grant’s Prime Minster character. Especially in light of how awesome our PM (WOOT Justin Trudeau) is holding himself in comparison to the “YUGE” guy in the south. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Actually, they’ve been comparing that meeting to that bit in Love Actually with the British PM and the American President.

  5. ALL. THE. FEELS. I love this movie so much. I agree with Fi, though…I didn’t think the groom was a jerk at all, but the stalky best man hitting on his friend’s new wife is very jerk-like behaviour. Hope he’s found his manners and is happily with someone who isn’t attached to someone else.

Hope Laura Linney finally gets her man. Hope. Hope. Hope.

    Can’t wait to see it!!!

    1. lol, I guess I have a soft spot for those suffering from unrequieted love, Louisa ๐Ÿ™‚ And the bit where he leaves the aprtment afterwards knowing its all out in the open and hating himself always hits me in the feels.

  6. Doesn’t matter how often I watch this movie I still have tears for Emma Thompson’s character. She played the part so well, and talk about real. Sigh.

  7. I ADORE THIS MOVIE! It came out right before I met my future husband and the first time I went to visit him at his house (He was making me dinner and it turned out to be the night of our first kiss *swoon!*) – he was playing the soundtrack to the film. He is super alpha and rarely admits to feelings – but this film gets him all glassy-eyed every. single. time. LOVE IT. I think I actually cry more each time I watch it. Might have to watch it tonight just to test the theory. xx Annie

  8. I have to give a true confession that, like Helen, I haven’t seen this movie! I’m really awful about making time to watch movies if they’re not something my husband wants to watch, too. Clearly must remedy that, starting with this one! ๐Ÿ™‚
