New Year, New Decade!

Wow, is it really 2020? I remember as a kid thinking how far into the future it would be when the new millennium arrived, and how old I’d be! Now it seems that in the blink of an eye, twenty more years have passed. I can hardly believe it.

This past decade brought some events that were painful and difficult for me, and I sometimes still struggle to deal with the deep emotions involved in the losses and stress. There’s something about a new year that brings hope for new beginnings and new things, doesn’t it? And a new decade even more so, which I’m feeling excited about. I’m more than happy to put the 2010s in the rear-view mirror and move forward into a happier place. 🙂

We were lucky enough to ring in the new year with friends in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Here I am wearing fun 2020 glasses, then a sparkly hat by the outdoor fire pit (with much snow behind me!) Two fun parties at a friend’s home that celebrated the new year and birthdays — we had a great time.

Then there was the skiing! Ten inches of snow dumped in two days, and it was just wonderful to ski on the beautiful mountains in such great conditions. Jackson Hole is known to be a challenging mountain, so I insisted on staying on the green and blue runs and not dive onto the black diamonds this year. Due to my broken wrist of a couple years ago, I had barely skied for three years and wanted to get my ski legs back, which I’m happy to say I did. Looking forward to skiing one more time this year with my kiddos in Colorado!

Then it was time to come home and get busy on all the New Year resolutions and goals. Yay! Goodbye Tetons! Until next time…

What did you do to ring in the New Year, and how are you feeling about starting a new decade? Anything you are ready to change, or accomplish, in 2020? xoxo

  1. Happy New Year, Robin! I remember thinking, as a child, that I would probably see the new millennium in very quietly, as I’d be far too old to celebrate! (I proved myself wrong when the year 2000 rolled around 🙂 ). I’m glad to hear your wrist is fully healed now, and I love the glasses! xx
