After years of planning (and I mean that literally!) I am finally off to New York City!!! I’m not leaving today, or even soon, but if you’ve been before I want to pick your brains. PLEASE tell me your top 3 things to do, see or eat so I can possibly add them to my list!
Our accommodation is booked so I’m just looking for suggestions for shows, restaurants, bars, shops, museums, sights, tours – anything and everything else basically.
We will have 9 days in NYC – hopefully a reasonable amount of time – and no kids – so your suggestions can be obscure or popular – whatever has stuck in your mind.
We will be there in late August – I know – it’s months away but I’m a little bit excited and I imagine there will be some things I’ll need to book in advance.
My next book is not officially out until March but is available in the UK, USA and here from Feb 24 in Australia. It is Book 3 in the London Hospital Midwives Series (Books 1 & 2 are out now – see below).
BUT I will happily give away a copy to the person who comes up with a trip suggestion for me that I haven’t heard of and/ or considered until now!!
Comment here on the blog or you can view my post on Facebook and I’ll pick a winner.
Top 3 – go for it!
Read the complete London Hospital Midwives series:
Cinderella and the Surgeon by Scarlet Wilson
Miracle Baby for the Midwife by Tina Beckett
Reunited by Their Secret Daughter by Emily Forbes
A Fling to Steal Her Heart by Sue MacKay
And, if you’re in Australia, Mills&Boon have a bush fire fundraiser on at the moment.
Emily
OMG Emily – I’m excited for you!! So many things to see and do and the weather is glorious in New York that time of year. Actually probably quite hot! So there’s all the usual top attractions of course but to “experience” New York I’d say my Top 3 would be –
Walk Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise.
The Sea Glass carousel in Batttery Park
Eat a Reuben sandwich. But not at Katz Deli of When Harry Met Sally Fame – I had one there and was quite disappointed.
Also, if I can add a fourth, get the free Staten Island ferry – it just goes across the river and back but you pass by the Statue of Liberty and at the terminal on the island there’s this bar that looks across at Manhatten which is an awesome spot for some vino!
You will have a ball!
Thanks, Amy, I was going to tag you on Facebook to make sure you gave me your tips 🙂 I’m thinking of popping into ‘Russ & Daughters’ instead of Katz’s – did you eat there??? I have all those things on my list (it’s a VERY long list!!!!) but I did not know about the bar on Staten Island. Cheers to that!
I’ll email you! SO MANY things to do but dpends on what you are interested in.xx
Thank you! To give you an idea we’re going to explre ifferent neighbourhoods on differnt days – Brooklyn, Central Park & upper west side, Soho/ little Italy, midtown, Financial district etc and plan on seeing the usual – the Met, Empire State, Chelsea Market, Broadway, tour the UN and the Federal reserve etc etc. I’ve gt a few more unusual activities – watching twilight sailing from the floating clubhouse of the Manhattan Yacht Club in the East River and a girlfriend suggested harness racing in New Jersey! So if you’ve done any amazing tours or eaten anywhere fabulous or been to a great jazz club let me know xx
